Often considered a “quick fix”, the area below Jesus’ chin was previously repaired by inserting a line of lead in the glass crack. This draws more attention to the neck area than was originally intended by the artist. The preferred repair method is to remove the hand-painted piece and perform an “edge gluing” to the crack.
